How to Let Go of Stress: A Gentle Guided Meditation for Finding Ease

Stress has a way of sneaking up on us, doesn’t it? Whether it’s a busy day or a moment that feels overwhelming, it’s easy to feel weighed down. But what if there’s a different way to approach it? Today, I’m sharing a meditation about how to let go of stress, by holding that which is difficult alongside things that bring you joy. This practice is designed to help you release tension, shift your perspective, and reconnect with small, meaningful moments of calm—no matter how hectic life gets.

The antidote

This meditation opens with a poem I wrote called “The Antidote.” It’s an invitation to rethink the way we carry life’s challenges. Sometimes, the weight of stress isn’t about the size of the problem, but how we’re holding it. What if, instead of carrying everything so tightly, we allowed ourselves to soften, release, or find balance in the little things we love—a favorite song, a moment of stillness, or a laugh shared with a friend?

As you listen, let the words of the poem and the meditation guide you. You don’t need to “do” anything except allow yourself to be present, breathe deeply, and notice what feels helpful.

Meditation Highlights

Here are a few reflections from the meditation to keep with you:

  • “If the antidote to your biggest stress was something you love… What would you choose?” This opening question invites reflection and curiosity, encouraging listeners to consider their own sources of comfort and joy.

  • “There are real problems we can’t escape. But some we magnify— not by what they are, but by how we carry them.” A powerful reminder that perspective and approach can make even the hardest moments feel more manageable.

  • “What if, today, you explored carrying them with more care, with a little more lightness?” A gentle yet compelling invitation to shift how you meet life’s challenges, offering the promise of relief and balance.

This sense of ease is always within reach. Whether it’s reconnecting with something you love, pausing for a deep breath, or simply softening how you hold life’s challenges, you can return to this space anytime.
